Church Office

Please note that I will not be in the office on Wednesday 28th and Friday 30th May. Therefore anything for notices for 1st June needs to be delivered to the church office by the morning of Tuesday 27th May. Karen.

Lusa, our new curate, moves into the village during the first week in June and will be ordained on 28th June.

Kent Air Ambulance

There will be a coffee morning in aid of the Kent Air Ambulance held at the office of Doves funerals, High Street, Staplehurst on Wednesday 21st May 10.00am -12.00 Staff and volunteers will be joining us to talk about the trusts' work. Please do join us.

The Friends' Sponsored Walk

The Friends are organizing a sponsored ramble on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th May. We shall meet at the church at 11.00 a.m. and then take a leisurely walk to Frittenden where lunch and refreshments can be purchased at the Bell and Jorricks. We return by a different route to Staplehurst in the afternoon. Forms available at the back of church. Dogs and children welcome.

Everyman Campaign for Male Cancers - “Keep Your Eye On The Ball” Sponsored Run

Last year Roy Barclay, along with his sons Richard and Andrew, took part in the “Keep Your Eye On The Ball” sponsored 5 kilometre run in aid of the Everyman Campaign for Male Cancers and, thanks to those who kindly sponsored us, we together raised more than £400. This year's event takes place on Sunday 1st June in Victoria Park, East London, and we are again taking part. Our aim is to beat last year's sponsorship total (and also improve on last year's times!).

The Institute of Cancer Research launched the Everyman Campaign in 1997 in order to raise awareness of male cancers, specifically prostate and testicular cancers, and to fund vital research. All money raised from the “Keep Your Eye On The Ball” run will go to the Everyman Campaign to fund their research.

The Institute of Cancer Research's Everyman Campaign

Coffee Morning and Bring and Buy in the Parish Room.

Saturday 7th June 10am-12 noon.

Home baking, bedding plants (begonias, busy lizzies and geraniums, good bric a brac.

Donations gratefully received.

All funds raised will go towards the Festival of Flowers to be held on 12th-14th September.

FAIRTRADE STALL - Village Carnival & Fete

Saturday 28th June 2008

We are running a stall at the village carnival to raise awareness of Fair Trade. If you can offer help for any part of the day, could you please let me know. There will be a briefing meeting led by Glyn Roberts on Tuesday 17th June at 8.00pm at 1 Vine House High Street Staplehurst for all volunteers.

Please note that the carnival is the same day as Lusa's ordination in Canterbury Cathedral (which is 11.00a.m.), so don't double book yourself!

Festival of Flowers - 12th-14th September.

We are closing our Festival of Flowers with a “Songs of Praise” service at 6.30 p.m. on 14th September, during which we hope to include people's favourite hymns and songs. There is a list at the back of church to indicate, if you would like to, your choice of hymns or songs. Thank you.
